Overview







Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad or IITH is a second-generation IIT that came into existence in 2008 along with seven other IITs. IIT Hyderabad is an Institute of National Importance (INI), and it is for the first time that it has been ranked 601-650 by QS World Ranking 2021. However last year it was ranked 8 for Engineering and 17 in Overall category by NIRF Rankings 2020. Started by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, IIT Hyderabad is a government institute that offers various UG, PG and doctoral courses in branches like Engineering, Science and Liberal Arts, Design and Management.
TH has signed numerous national and international MoUs with corporates and universities for collaboration on academic and professional fronts. At present, IITH has a total intake of more than 660 students and it admits candidates for a four-year BTech, a four-year B Des, a two/three-year MTech, a two-year MSc, a two-year M Des, a two-year MA(DS) courses at UG and PG levels. IITH also offers fifteen PhD courses.

IIT Hyderabad Admission Process
Admission to IIT Hyderabad UG, PG and doctoral courses is through national exams. IITH admission process starts with the registration process for the courses. The application forms are available the official website of IIT Hyderabad. IITH seat reservations for ST/ SC/ OBC/ OBC-NCL/ EWS/ PwD is as per the norms of the government of India. Further IIT Hyderabad admission process for various courses is as follows:
UG Courses
- IITH BTech Admission is through a common entrance exam JEE Advanced. On clearing the exam and meeting the cutoff, the eligible candidates are further called for JoSSA counselling.
- For IITH BDes admission, candidates are required to appear for UCEED. The qualified candidates who meet the cut-off are called for counselling allotted the seat.
PG Courses
- IITH MTech admission is based on valid score in GATE followed by PI and the final offers are made through COAP.
- IITH MSc admission is based in valid scores in IIT JAM.
- Admission to MA (Development Studies) course is based on written test and interview conducted by IITH.
Doctoral
- IITH PhD admission is through the interview process conducted by the institute. Also, candidates with good academic record and GATE scores can get direct admission.

IIT Hyderabad Courses 2021
IIT Hyderabad offers BTech, BDes, MTech, MSc, MA, MDes and PhD courses across various departments of Engineering, Science and Liberal Arts, Design and Management. IITH also offers a three-year MTech in departments across departments like Artificial Intelligence, Civil, Chemical, electrical and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

IIT Hyderabad Scholarships
IIT Hyderabad scholarships vary from merit to means. IITH offers means-cum-merit scholarships to GEN, GEN-EWS/ OBC students and ST/ SC scholarships at the institute level. IITH also accepts scholarships offered by government/state government. Candidates applying for institute scholarships can write an email to the Acads office of IITH, whereas candidates who are applying for scholarships offered by the government/ state government have to apply through the National Scholarship Portal.
