How do you start freelancing? I say, choosing the right niche for yourself is the best place to start from. While you are new to freelancing, you might be ready to take up any paid project. But if you really plan to make a career in freelancing, then you will surely have to choose a particular niche fro yourself.
Freelancing can be done in any domain, you can do freelancing in graphic designing or freelancing in content writing, or social media management or you may even do freelancing in coding. You name it and you will find a freelancing job in that field.
Choose a field which best fits to your interests and abilities. The more specific niche you choose the more chances are of getting clients.
Tip #2: Decide on Part time Freelancing Vs Full time Freelancing
A major decision to take is to decide whether you will be doing freelancing as a side gig or will you take it up as a full time career. Most people are not able to decide on this question. Well, it’s not their fault. Freelancing can be as damaging for your career and finances as rewarding if you succeed.
You may decide to take up freelancing as a part time job but that may prevent you from growing. It may force you to take fewer projects as you have other work as well. One major decision you need to make early on in your freelance career is what you do and what you don’t do.
The more specific you can be about what services you offer, the better. Not only will it help you brand yourself, it’ll allow you to control how potential clients perceive you and give you the opportunity to continue building your portfolio in the direction you want to move in.
Tip #4: Create a portfolio of your best works
Well, freelancing is like a market. In a market, there are several sellers selling the same good. Similarly, in freelancing there are numerous freelancers ready to offer the same service you are offering. Now how will you ensure that clients choose you over others?

The goal of having a website showcasing your skills is to attract and convert new clients. What better way to increase the number of potential new clients coming across your website than by creating high quality blog content that positions you as a stand out expert within your field?
At the beginning, aim for creating one or two in-depth blog posts per month, geared toward providing truly helpful solutions that your potential clients may be searching for. Note: That means you’ll be writing for an audience of your clients, not other people in your field.
You may even start writing guests posts to get more audience and more exposure. Writing guest post can be extremely helpful. Start pitching people and companies to feature your post. Freelancing is a great way to start earning especially if you are a student. You may take small projects and complete them to earn your first income.
